Wine School September 17th: Austria Part 2 with Christine

Wine School September 17th: Austria Part 2 with Christine

Ready to dive deeper into Austria’s dynamic wine scene? In this second installment of our Austrian wine series, we’ll turn our attention to two styles that are reshaping the way the world thinks about Austrian wine: expressive red wines and elegant sparkling Sekts.

Leading the tasting is our general manager Christine, a Certified Wine Specialist and WSET Level 3 candidate, who recently traveled through Austria’s wine country, meeting with producers and exploring the regions firsthand. She'll share behind-the-scenes insights, personal stories, and expert tips to help you understand and enjoy these wines on a deeper level.

We’ll explore native red grapes like Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and St. Laurent, cool-climate varietals that offer a fresh, food-friendly balance of fruit, spice, and structure, with plenty of Old World charm. Then, we’ll turn to Austria’s sparkling secret: Sekt. With growing attention to traditional method production, extended lees aging, and single-vineyard expressions, Austrian bubbles are quickly stepping into the spotlight.

Whether you joined us for Part I or are just jumping in, this class is your chance to discover a lesser-known, but no less exciting, side of Austrian wine, where reds and sparklers shine with authenticity, energy, and elegance.

Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable between friends! You can view our Cancellation Policy here!

Wine School September 24th: Judgement of Paris Revisited

Wine School September 24th: Judgement of Paris Revisited

In 1976, a seismic shift occurred in the world of wine. At the now-famous Judgment of Paris, California wines went head-to-head with some of France’s most respected bottles—and won. This unexpected outcome challenged centuries of tradition, changed the course of wine history, and put Napa Valley firmly on the map.

In this class, we’ll explore the legacy of that pivotal moment through a comparative tasting of two classic grape varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay—featuring standout examples from both Napa Valley and France. As we taste, we’ll discuss the original 1976 event, how wine styles have evolved since, and what makes these regions unique in their approach to these varietals.

Featured wines:

  • Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Artemis – Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Château Lestage Darquier – Moulis-en-Médoc, Bordeaux

  • Château Montelena – Napa Valley Chardonnay

  • Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault Les Corbins – Burgundy

Join us for an evening of tasting, stories, and discovery as we explore the wines and moments that reshaped the wine world, and why they still matter today.

Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable between friends! You can view our Cancellation Policy here!

Live Music: JT Horne

Join singer/songwriter JT Horne for live music at Putnam’s vine/yard.

JT Horne began his musical journey at a young age, singing in his church’s choir and participating in band and chorus throughout grade school in his small hometown of Worcester, New York. At age 10, Horne picked up the guitar and piano and quickly fell in love. When the singer was given Neil Young’s “Decade” some years later from a lifelong friend, he knew at that moment he not only wanted to play music, but he also wanted to write and compose it. Since that early age, music has been his main focus and his life’s mission. Horne went on to study music and English in college, receiving his B.A. from Oswego State in 2018. The musician currently performs solo and with his band, The Leaps, throughout the country.

The songwriter’s unorthodox voice catches the audience's ear and leaves them craving for more, while his songwriting provokes feelings wrapped in nostalgia. Catch the singer performing original tunes and favorite cover songs from the country, folk, rock, blues, and Americana genres.

Wine School August 13th: Italy Part 5 - East Coast

Our Italian wine series has been so popular, we’ve added one more class! In this fifth and final installment, we turn our attention to Italy’s sun-drenched East Coast. We’ll explore regions from Emilia-Romagna down to Puglia, discovering the crisp whites of Verdicchio in the Marche, the bold Montepulcianos of Abruzzo, and the rustic charm of southern varietals like Negroamaro and Primitivo. Along the way, we’ll uncover how coastal influences, limestone soils, and deep-rooted traditions shape these expressive and approachable wines.

Join us as we uncork the Adriatic and sip our way down Italy’s eastern spine!

Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable between friends! You can view our Cancellation Policy here!

July Book + a Bottle: Tuesday July 29th

We're thrilled to continue our collaboration with our friends at Still North Books & Bar, bringing together the perfect blend of books and wine! Each month, new and familiar faces will host or co-host our meet-ups.

In July, Book and a Bottle will be hosted by Emily C.. This month’s pick is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng—a beautifully written, emotionally rich novel about the complexities of family, belonging, and personal choices. We'll be pairing it with a refreshing Pikes Road Rosé from Willamette Valley, Oregon.

Your pre-order includes a specially curated bottle of wine, the book, and an invitation to join the discussion.

Choose from two dates:

Tuesday, July 29th or

Thursday, July 31st,

6:30–7:30 PM.

Be sure to select your date when purchasing!

Pick-ups start July 1st, 2025. We will send an email when they are ready for pick-up!

Space is limited, so only those on the Book & Bottle Order List can attend.

Let the bartenders know you’re with the group to enjoy 15% off your purchases on event night!

Wine School July 23rd: Wine 101

The Wine 101 class is the perfect starting point for diving into the wonderful world of wine, whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to take your skills to the next level! In this hands-on, approachable class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wine tasting, including the art of identifying aromas, flavors, and textures, all while sampling a variety of grape varietals and styles from around the globe. From bold reds to crisp whites and everything in between, you’ll start to connect the dots between what’s in your glass and where it came from.

We’ll also discuss essential knowledge beyond tasting, including how to properly store and serve wine, why the shape of your glass matters, and how to identify key wine components such as tannins, body, and acidity. Plus, you’ll learn which foods are friends and foes of wine with guided tasting activities!

Expect plenty of sips, lots of “aha” moments, and a laid-back atmosphere where no question is too basic. Whether you're here to build your wine confidence or just want to drink something delicious while learning a thing or two, this is your class! Come curious and leave with a new favorite wine (or three)!
